Hi all!
I need to build a 1/16 scale version of those 40 gallon steel oil drums for my Feldmarschall Rommel vignette.
According to your knowledge/opinion, what colour should the drum be painted?
TIA

I can never really truely tell from what photographs there are that exist, but it always seems like they are like a dark grey looking color....Other than that, I don't know what other color they could be.....

Originally all vehicles and equipment sent to the Western Desert would have been overall dark grey, later overpainted with sand yellow, though some panzerspaehwagen were coated with mud as an expedient initially.
Sandstorms would wear the paint from the edges as would general banging and dents and if the drums were sat in situ for any length of time then rust would appear on worn areas from the morning dew.
