Who has tamiya extra thin cement in stock in the states these days? -mid May 2005-
I'm told there is some trouble at the border/customs, with the all Japanese warning labels.
Jonsing badly for the good stuff..

Mike, I too have heard that the Tamiya thin cement has gotten scarce in the states. The last bottle I bought was from http://www.crmhobbies.com in St.Louis. He might be worth an e-mail to see if he has any.

Funny, I'm running a little low on it myself, so went to my local hobby shop to pick some up, (I always get it there) and was told the same thing by the owner, Not until they start putting the warning lable in English. He also told me, he's got the same problem getting Mr. Gunze stuff for the same reason, so that supply is probably going to dry up soon also.

Hi Guyz,
I've just read your post, and I might have a sollution...
Did you ever heard of MEK? MEK stands for Methyl Ethyl Ketone, and it is used in the proffesional painters business, as well as in the window business. It is commonly used as a de-greaser, but it works brilliantly as a plastic cement as well!!
It is even thinner as Tamiya's extra thin, and it is a lot cheaper as well!!
I hope it's available in the States...
Just my two cents, John.

Methyl Ethyl Ketone, is not really a chemical I would want anywhere near me on the workbench... It has to be used in (VERY) well-ventilated spaces and is (if I remember correctly) extremely flammable. Use one of the other cements if you have to, recommending this is IMHO, highly irresponsible...Jim

Does Lucky Model ship anything like this, or only by land.
At first I thought it was just me that couldn't find it here in the US.

I make my own version using Testors tube glue and Testors liquid cement. Just mix the two in a Tamiya empty bottle. You can mix the two to obtain the consistancy you prefer.

I was on HLJ website looking for some Tamiya Super Fine Cement myself and they didnt even have it. I wonder if its something more then just a Labeling issue in the States. I still have another full bottle or two in my stash so I'll be ok for about another 6 months or so barring any accidents

On a similar topic Tamiya paint is getting harder to get in the U.S. as well

Yes its much better. Testors Liquid Cement works good in certain applications, but the Tamiya Super Fine is the best IMO overall liquid cement.

I ran out of the Tamiya and got a bottle of Ambroid ProWeld. IMHO it works better than the Tamiya cement, comes in a larger bottle and is cheaper.
