I saw these in Korea when I was stationed there. They are from the same Academy company that does the tanks and planes that we all know. Made out of plastic. They are supposed to be pretty good. They had a bunch of off-the-wall stuff there, like bicycles, furniture sets, ice cream carts, etc. Never bought any of them myself, but the Koreans seem to like them.

Yes it could be, but I haven't build academy so far.
So I can't give a conclusion.
How is academy as tank manufacturer??

Maby I will give it a try....

Academy's later offerings such as their M10/M36 series are pretty good, their tigers aren't too bad (IMHO), the Warrior mcv is good ( it has one or two faults but it's the only plastic Warrior in 1:35 scale). Some of their older kits aren't too hot.

When I was in Kwang Ju Korea in 1988 I built this kit.
As a drummer, I can say I remember it being well detailed and molded.
It was crushed in my hold baggage.
I'm off to check ebay....

@05Sultan, it is 1/8 so I think it is as large as a (small) tank.

I didn't knew it too, that changed when I spoke with somebody on msn and we tolked about drums.
I asked of there kit made from drums. And he searched and said ''yes one, from Academy''.

So I looked on google and I found the kit.
I thought, why shouldn't I buy it.
And that's why this topic is going all about with all my questions.

@Chuck, What a shame your model was broken in your baggage. It's good to hear that it is well molded en detailed.

Hey Hilbert i'v built that kit like 6 years ago. Really not a bad kit. All around fit was not that bad. Built it for my middle daughter Tammy. The only problem was with the chrome pieces. When cut from the tree the white sprue showed, and we all know that there's no chrome paint. Tammy plays the drums and hers are Candy blue, so I paint the kit a silver and applyed Tamiyas clear blue. Looked pretty good. They also have a guitar kit, but never built that.

Hi Hilbert. I saw this when it was uploaded as I was uploading images myself. How much was it, if you don´t mind me asking? I played drums in a band for few years as well, and would love to have a go at this. Any ideawhere another could be bought from? Cheers.

EDIT: Doesn´t matter ... I just bought it on Ebay from Hong Kong for $20.50 ($10.50 and $10.00 P&P)

link to ebay item.
Cheers Hilbert. Will look forward to painting this. My last kit was a wine coloured TAMA kit, so I might try to convert this.

I think that the standarts are not really a problem.
I've chrome in a spray can (used for cars)

No ... not even recieved it yet. The drum kit represented here is by a company called Pearl. My real drum kit was by TAMA. It was a metallic wine colour with black bass drum skin. Might try to use those colours, when building the model drum kit.!
I always had dreams of buying a second bass drum and having my perfect set-up ..... but gave up druming before I moved to Sweden. Maybe I´ll look about getting a second model and have a model of my dream set-up instead!
Might even consider getting some Zildjian decals made for the cymbals. Day dreaming again .............

Hehe, Thanks for the reply.

i think I will spray the kit in this kind of color.

I love this drum.... the color is outstanding.
Maby I will try to paint this color.
I think it is a kind of metallic white called Brillant Champagne.

Ow I don't know if the site is copywrighted so I will give the site.

Sonor site (for a drummer is this heaven )

@Plasticbattle, try once a twinpedal, they work fine and the principle is the same as 2 base drums.
And they are easier to control and you don't have adjust the other base drum becouse it sound (many times) different then the other base.

Edit: if you concider to play it again.

Here is another on Ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=774&item=5975137231&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
It is opened but parts sealed so you can see it's contents. This seller has several
of the kits. Some of them are free shipping.
