Hi all I am new to modeling and would like to post this question?
Do any of you have a recommended shop preferably on the net were I could start to gather some of my first supplies and of course models. I have found a couple but you never know about reliability.
Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
Craig

Hi Craig,
Hannants are reliable if slow : http://www.hannants.co.uk/
Models for Sale is my favourite dealer :especially as after a qualifying spend you get a loyalty discount!

There's always e/bay. There is a shop on e/bay called Panther models ltd that sell a wide range of stuff and delivery is very fast.

I was impressed by the speed (and packaging) with which the stuff I ordered from Models for Sale turned up.
Don't really shop on the net much as I am far too much of an impulse buyer....

Hi Craig, I agree with Dave and the others. I have found as follows:
I like- and have found the following stores very reliable:
Plastic Kits:
http://www.modelsforsale.com/
http://netmerchants.co.uk/
More off the beaten track (overseas), but still reliable (and very cheap):
http://www.hobby888.com/
Out of production (OOP) kits:
http://www.kingkit.co.uk/
http://www.kitkrazy.com/
After market items (Resin, Photo etch etc.)
http://www.accurate-armour.com/
http://www.historexagents.com/shop/hxshop.php
http://www.armour-models.co.uk/model_kit_gunze.html
http://www.pdi-model-supplies.com/ Stockists of Mig Productions, CMK Goffy Models, Extra Detail and ARMO 1/72 Metal Gun Barrels among others and the only stockists, in the UK (that I know of) to stock Tenax 7R glue.
Plastic materials (styrene sheet etc.) and other expendables (knives, cutters, glue, filler etc.)
http://www.themodelmakersresource.co.uk/index.html
http://www.anticsonline.co.uk/
http://www.themodelcatalogue.com/
Exclusively for tools, http://www.ardelectronics.com/, although their website has hiccups they are well worth the effort.
Other sites
On Ebay, I regularly check this Seller for Tamiya tools and accessories. Although in Hong Kong, I got my Tamiya Sharp Pointed Side Cutter for about half price (including P&P) and delivered in under a week. Tamiya Masking Tape with dispenser and 2X Tape Refills cost about the same (including P&P) as just one tape and dispenser costs in the UK. Waiting time is about 1 week, usually 5 days.
Although slow and sometimes unpredictable, http://www.hannants.co.uk/ carry just about everything.
Hope this helps!

I'll second that.
Also on ebay look out for ray614 (i think) - cheap tamiya and academy kits and a new(?) trader called lawbodel seems cheap and offers 'buy it now' options on it's sales. Don't know how long the delivery will be though.
But of course, you should really be supporting your local, independent hobby shop, if there is one.

I''ll add endorsements for Panther Models on ebay - I buy nearly all my kits on ebay and I've always been happy with the service from Hannants. Antics were Ok but took 4weeks and 3 phone calls to deliver my compressor.
One site not mentioned is the 4D Model Shop http://www.modelshop.co.uk/pages/home.htm
which I came across as a recommendation in the Terrain Modelling Masterclass as a source of diorama building material.

Thanks.
I'm glad they changed the name of the store to 888, the old one was too scary! :-)

Give the guys a chance! From the 13th to the 18th isn't well over a week by anybody's calendar, and there was a weekend in there as well. Wonderland Models are good, but I'd give them a few more days yet!!

Excellent service from this shop, http://www.military-precision.co.uk/
I ordered a Jordio Rubio barrel and it was delivered 3 days later. They take paypal as well.
Update.
The barrel i ordered was the wrong one ( my fault should look more carefully,oh well, i'll have to buy another kit LOL). so on the 26/5/05 i ordered the correct one, this morning (27/5/05) the postman delivered it. Not even 24 hours from ordering to delivery, too say i'm impressed is an understatement.

Redleg as others have said give www.modelsforsale.com a go, very good service. They also have 2nd hand stuff for sale.
After you have built up a order value you even get a discount with them, great save money so you can buy more kits......
