Hi Matthew
Firstly, welcome to Armorama! Great to have you here!
Do you have the MIG agency for SA? If so, well done! I'm sure I speak for all when I say we look forward to ordering from you.
What other products do you stock? Can we expect a company website in the near future?
Rudi

Considering MIG's recommended price is 3EUR excl taxes, that is not a bad price after the government has taken their cut...

Hi Guys!
Thanks for all the interest!!
Yes I will from now on be bringing in all the MIG stuff. If you take a look at the MIG website (www.migproductions.com) you will be able to see the full range of resin kits and accessories and pigments that are avialible from MIG. (the website is about to be updated soon - new products come out all the time)
One of the update kits that was very popular at the show was the T-55 burnout kit for instance.
I am particularly excited about the dry transfers. I have told Miguel Jimenez (MIG) that he should bring out a range for aircraft too.
In fact I am mainly an aviation modeller and Mig has asked me to help him with the launch of a new aviation range of pigments.
I am looking forward to that as I have been using pastels extensivley on my aircraft before I got hold of the MIG stuff.
Be aware that the pigments are a new/different medium for us to use and it would take a while to learn all the uses and all the different ways that they can be used.
On the Mig site, on the page showing all the pigment colours there is a link called the "The secret Mig pigments guide" or something to that effect. Click on this and you will get a very good breakdown in both pictures and text of how to use the pigments in some of the different was that Miguel uses them. This will go a long way to improving your pigment skill and therefore the final look of your model!
Miguel is a very humble guy, however I have found out via other channels that he has won many gold, silver and bronze awards for his modelling at Euro-Militaire over the years, which is rated as the most prestigious competitionin the modelling world. So he knows what he is talking about.
The great thing is that he is absolutley passionate about modelling and has the full insight of a modeller when he designs a new product or pigment colour. In other words he thinks like a modeller and producers what a real modeller would want, not what a fancy marketing department think would be the most profitable range of products.
Anyhow I'm waffeling on now.
The price is set at R35 per bottle. this is the cheapest I could keep it after the high cost of airfrieghting them in, VAT charges, shipping agent's fees and a whole host of other small expences involved. Luckily there are no duties on the pigments or on models. The other thing to keep in mind is that the exchange rate that you see in newspapers and on T.V. , is the selling rate and is the rate that major Banks get. The buying rate is always much higher and us mere mortals do not get the rate that Banks do (we cannot buy in hundreds of millions like the banks do for one).
So I paid much more for it than what the current Ran/Euro (selling!) exchange rate shows.
The Australian guys for instance, sell it for more than me. I assume that the shipping distances are also very costly for them.
Anyhow I am pleased to have them and for the moment will not be bringing anything else other then the fullMIG range in (the MIG stuff is a huge investment!)
However should it go very well, (it certainly has done so far!!) then I will certainly think about some other stuff that I think is very good but not availible here in S.A. Suggestions in that regard are most welcome!
Cheers and happy modelling!

Sorry Rudi,
I forgot to mention that I will not be putting up a website for the moment, it would just be an expensive duplication of the MIG website.
Should I one day be bringing in a range of other stuff too, then I will most certainly consider my own website. It would then make good sense.
I have not yet contacted all the hobbyshops regards the MIG range, my showing at the Potch show (what a nice show!) this last weekend was in effect my launch of the products in S.A.
In the next few days all of the top model shops in S.A. will hear from me.
It might be good if some of you guys already mention it to you favorite hobby shop, so that when I contact them, they are already keen for the product!
That way you would definatley get your MIG pigments!
Cheers,
Matthew

Thanks for the highly informative update Matthew.

Pls let us know the second those products hit customs, so that we can start placing our orders!

P.S. Matthew: did you have to pay Spain's IVA (VAT) as well? Or was it VAT free? Sorry about the somewhat intrusive question, but I'm trying to get some figures out of Andreas and they aren't exactly very forthcoming with their export related questions...

Hi Rudi,
You do not pay that countries taxes, you will get charged South African VAT however, unless the parcel looks like it is a gift or very small or something like that.
I could not get away with 5 very large boxes of over 110kg in weight though! What a pity!
Well I am a VAT registered vendor, so I just claim it all back, however I need to add it to the cost of the product, that you guys have to pay for. So my price of R35.00 per bottle INCLUDES VAT @ 14%.
Sorry that was a long answer.....
Cheers
