What is a good product to unstick super glue. I used Extreme Power thick super glue to put on the rear track assembly on a M16 half track, and realized, about a half hour too late, I put the bloody thing on upside down. DOH!!!!.

Any suggestions on a good product that works to unglue this?

Hey Rodger I use nail polish remover, it stinks. My wife says I use it more than her :-) :-) :-). If you have any around, glue two pieces of the sprue togather and remove the pieces using the nail polish. This way here your able to see if it will harm the plastic. Good luck.

Try acetone...you can get it at a hardware store/home depot and it's a lot cheaper, but as MOther says...try it on a test piece first, acetone can do a damn-damn on some types of plastic

There are two type of nail polish, with and without acetone. Each bottle can be bought for under a $1.00

Do you guys say it has to have acetone in it to remove super-glue, cause I was wondering, my sister give me an old bottle she said she never used, and it says right on it, non-acetone instant polish remover, and it unstuck the super glue.

I just now noticed it says non-acetone, I never noticed that before, but I tried it on the glue, and it unstuck, plus when I had it on my fingers, I used this to clean it off my fingers, and it worked well, and the price was right for free, a big 8 oz bottle.

Thanks for all the suggestions folks. I've got a wife and two teen aged daughters, there is GOT to be some nail polish remover around the house. Of course if I ask for it I'll get the typical rolling eyes, pitying look, and "oh DADDY" response from them.

I'll be gluing some sprues together, letting them set up really good, and trying it out as soon as I get home tonight.

Rodger,

Minor suggestion: Just because whatever remover you opt to try doesn't eat a sprue doesn't mean it won't play hell with that vinyl track, if that is what you have glue on upside down. (I am assuming you are building Tammy's M16)

Just a thought,

Shaun, I'd love to say that it was the track I put on upside down, but when I screw up I REALLY screw up. I put the whole darn bogey assembly upside down, and didn't notice it until it was nice and dry. Picture the engine pointing down, with the bogeys pointing up.

Besides nail polish remover/acetone what else will unstick your fingers if there is a superglue accident?
