I've recently acquired "Encyclopedia of German Tanks of World War 2", a softback updated reprint of Peter Chamberlain & Hilary Doyles 1978 classic, from a local cheap bookshop ("the Works"), for the bargain price of £3.99! That's a lot of info for your money (272 A4 pages) & definitely recommended if German armour is your thing. OK, it doesn't have any plans or colour pictures, but since it includes armoured cars, half tracks & even Flak guns mounted on lorries, as well as captured equipment from Britain, Czechoslovakia, France, Russia & even the USA, you can't really complain! Over the years I've got some other real bargains from this source, including one on the German Army in the 20th Century, which does include dozens of 1/72nd scale plans. What other bargains have you guys come across?

Best deal I ever found was Steve Zaloga's Modern Soviet Armor w/ the dustjacket intact for 25 cents at a flea market. Quite a bit of the info is outdated, but there are still a lot of great pics and drawings in there.

Around 60 of the old profile publications for the equivalent of $20 - from a dealer at the annual 2nd hand book fair in Madrid. The ones I didn't want, locomotives etc. went straight onto e-bay...
The best, was Charles Oman's (complete) history of the Peninsular War at a car-boot sale in England five pounds for the lot... I am generally very lucky in these sales - SWBO has also developed an eye for a bargain. She found around 10 of the old Almark Military books for around a fiver. Take a look at what these are fetching from the specialist dealers...Jim

Bargains hhmmmmmm
Well I managed to score some books for not that much money mostly English books translated to German which were sold for a nice price (most of them less then 10 Euro which is actually a steal considering the books. I do happen to search the Dutch Auction sites at regular basis and manage to score some good stuff there. Not really model related but I found a pile of old Signals for only 15 Euro and I have some loose german Propaganda stuff for nice prices. I also will get next week a folder with 12 Repro`s from the Artist Jozef Arens who made brilliant drawings. the 12 Drawings are dated 1940 and 1941. Costed me only 21 Euro.
Further I have bought a lot of Waffenarsenals here from guys in Holland for only 3,50 Euro each.
Does an Iron Cross 1st Class in the original box with the little Ribbon for free count as a Bargain?
