What is a good modelling magazie. I am thinking of getting a subscriptioon for my birthday. I do aircraft modelling but am intrested in all areas. Factors include value for money, good photography and non bias.
Thanks in advance
cheers

In the US, Fine Scale Modeler, http://www.finescale.com/, is a good general modeling magazine that covers mainly aircraft and armor with a sprinkling of ships and cars. It comes out in 10 issues per year.

Does Tamiya Model Magazine only review and use tamiya products, and do you find it biased?
I managed to get a copy of Scale Avation Modeller. It looks quite good and has 100 pages for each issue. Do any of you get SAM and what do you think of it?
cheers

Philip,
Being in the UK, here are two that cover aircraft really well,
Both are local UK magazines, so you should be able to find them
rather easy:::::
Scale Aircraft Modelling
Scale Aviation Modeller International........
I occasionally pick these up here in the US........
More often when I go into my Wing Thing phase...........
Hope that helps....
Both are well written, and have decent articles each month.

.since you live in the UK some of the american mags might not be of use since they mention products that are hard to come by or are impossible to get hold of over here.
This really is the most absurd statement. The majority of the advertisers in FSM use an institution known as M-A-I-L. Some even have their own webpages
. Since he is looking for a general modelling magazine and since FSM is widely available in the U.K (when i'm in Britain, I see it in W.H. Smith) and compared to its British counterpart (Scale Models) it is streets ahead. The other which would be worth consdering as was mentioned would be the Tamiya Magazine....Jim

I find it rather good, MAINLY for the monthly write up on one aircraft's use and history. They also occasionally slip a decal sheet in, which we never get over here in the states for some reason.
I'll usually pick up a copy when I see an aircraft I have interest in being covered, so I do not get it each month.
All of the other magzines mentioned are all good, and usually have interesting articles, etc. And Tamyia certainly does cover other manufactures kits.

Hi Philip,
A new Tamiya Magazine for Aircraft Modelers :
- Model Aircraft Magazine
Tamiya Model Magazine International is edited by ADH Publishing Ltd., Doolittle Mill, Doolittle Lane, Totternhoe, Beds, LU6 1QX, UK. His brother - Model Aircraft Magazine (not only Tamiya kit but all about aircraft models in the world) - the first issue will come out at the end of July, 2005.
As you live in UK, there is no problem to get this one.
HTH.
