Hey there, fellow Seffricans!
Does anyone know where in SA I can buy clear decal paper ?
Thanks a bunch!

Hi Quintin,
There is a company called Andercraft in the Cape manufacturing balsa kits of SAAF aircraft as well as some SAAF decal sets - you may have seen some in your LHS. If memory serves the gentleman's name is Neil Anderssen. If the Yellowpages listing is correct, the tel. number is 021 919 1657.
Try contacting him and finding out where you can get it, or if you buy some blank sheets directly from him. Be warned, he can sometimes be a bit abrupt
so don't take it personally...
Best of luck
Rudi

Hi Quintin
I saw some decal paper at Esswex a while back (can't remember if it was clear or white). I think it cost R150 for 3 A4 sheets, but don't take my word for that.
Give them a call and they should be able to help you:
Esswex contact details
Cheers

If you have a credit card and don't mind to wait a bit you can order on the net for far cheaper than Esswex, who are usually overpriced.
Just google decal paper.
Seeing as you're also in GP, you can also try these shops (although I've never seen any of them stock decal paper).

You could even try a printer or printing suppliers. Worth a shot. Admittedly it's not something that is generally in high demand in LHS's...

You could also try Herbert Evan's art shop in Rosebank. I've seen lots of weird stuff there, so you never know...

Hi Quintin,
Pls share with us where you ordered this from. Also, if not too personal, what sort of price did you pay, what quantity, and what size where the sheets? I'm sure the rest of the crew would like to know...

Hi Rudi
Sure thing! I ordered it from Micro-Mark (www.micromark.com). It cost me R81.00 for three A4 sheets. It sounds very expensive, but I think it's worth it.
BTW : You should these guys' catalogue! They've got the funkiest hobby stuff!

For these sheets... don't you also need that decal spray that seals the decals after they're printed?

Hi,
Spoke to Grant of Esswex yesterday about the same subject. They would have decal paper in stock in about six weeks. I couldn't get a price though.
Regards,
Tappie

Hey MockTurtle
I tried it out without sealing, and it worked fine. It might just be a luck shot, but it worked.

Hi Guys,
Working on getting decal paper. I would soon be marketing custom decals as I don't seem to find the decals I want. If you are interested, let me know.
