OK all you Michigan Armorama members!
If you're in the Metro Detroit area next Saturday, April 16 is the SEMMEX 4 (Southeastern Michigan Model Expostition). Doors open at 8:30am. Its' a great chance for those of us in the area to shake hands and make the human connection! I'll be there and look forward to seeing all the local Michigan Modellers there as well!
For more info see:

I'd love to get over to Warren but I've got a gig that night in Wayne and will need the time to get ready. Plus with all the new border crossing requirements, I'm not sure I have all the stuff I need to cross Woodward over to the East Side. :-) :-)

Thanx for the heads up, but at $2.43 a gallon for gas, it's a long way to Detroit from Standish. Hopefully something will come up closer in the future, but if you're ever "Up North", let me know.

I've made arrangements with the Border Guards. They will be expecting you! Seriously, try and make it. I'll be the short guy (like I have a choice) with the black US Army baseball cap.It'd be good to see you there, but I understand.

I can understand that! We used to go up north all the time, then Pops sold the place...lucky to get up there once every 2-3 years now. maybe one day!

I may try getting down there. I am also a long haul (Houghton Lake) and gas is just as high here too. I don't have anything to toss on the tables, but I always like to check out the vendors, and I just got my paycheck...

Hey, Daveman;
Got any decent hobby shops up there? Nearest one to me is Bay City, but not much of a selection

The only place with plastics up here (Other than Wally World) is Arnie's arts and Crafts. They have quite a few planes, a few tanks, and quite a decent selection of cars. No accessories or anything like that though. Mostly revell/mono/AMT/ a few Italeri and Tamiya kits. They also have a pile of ship kits too. I try to buy from them when they have something in stock that I want to build, as it's nice to have a store like that around.
I get around a bit, and I have used the shop in Alma, Traverse City, and Roger's in Saginaw a few times. I haven't been to the one in Bay City recently. Do they still race the RC cars in the back of the store?

I went to the show/contest Saturday. Can't say if it was good, bad or anything since it has been many year ssince I was at a show, so I have no basis for comparison.
I had a good time, found an Academy M1025 for $10 and I actually got to meet a fellow Armorama-ist, Pete Ong. It was good to see a human!!
The entries looked nice to me. Made me realize I have a looooong ways to go to have the level of quality I'd like to have. There were some impressive builds there.
All in all, a good investment of 2 hours time.
