Like millions out there I was totally absorbed with Band of Brothers. However, they got credit for something they didn't exactly do. The capture of the Eagles Nest at the end of the war. There is an excellent article in this months World War 2 magazine that tells you they missed it by a day. The unit t that captured it was the 7th Inf regiment (part of 3rd ID) Now this is one of those real old units (THey fought in New Oreans in 1815 with Andy Jackson) They were in and out of the place a day before. The 101 and the French were blocked at a bridge crossing by other elements of the 3rd ID until they were told by the CG to let them through......after he got word that his units had taken Berchtesgarten. They snagged a couple of truckloads of Goring's booze stash and went back to Salzburg with it. No fanfare and they didn't post a sign saying they had already been there. Read the article it is quite good and it is a documented fact, the unit is just so classy that they didn't raise a stink about who should get credit.

I read that article, too. I pointed that out to a friend of mine, who didn't believe me. (After all, everything in a movie is believable ) So, I showed him the article, and he finally believed me! Thanks for your time.
