My family and I are going to go on a trip across country in June, and we are going to see everything along the way. This is what we have listed to see thus far:

Lake of the Ozarks
Grand Canyon
Painted Desert
Petrified Forest
Meteor Crater
Hoover Dam
Las Vegas- 100th Anniversary
Sebola National Forest/Park
Disneyland- 50th Anniversary
Sea World- San Diego
San Diego Zoo
Wild Animal Park- San Diego County

And lots of other San Diego things. After all, my mom was raised in San Diego!

Do you guys have any suggestions? I would appreciate anything you can think of! Thank you for your time.

Looks like you're taking the southern route, So there's not much I could add. However, there are a few worthwhile historical attractions here in Kansas. Maybe you could swing through another time.

Suggestions:

Yosemite National Park.
Been there 3 times when I was stationed at Fort Ord, Ca. Its breath taking. Last time I was there, I took pictures of deer around mid-day, using a 35mm with a 75mm lens, and had to back up to get more then the head and shoulders.

Montery (spelling) Bay Aquirum.
Was in a Star Treck Movie when Kirk, SPock, etc went back in time to get whales to save earth. Basically only contains the california coast fish, etc. But, found it very interesting.

Carmel:
Home of CLint Eastwood and his bar the Hog's Breath. He use to tend bar a few nights each week.

Highway :
Its the coast highway of California. Has some beutiful seneary.

If your coming through KC you gotta hit Arthur Bryants or Gates BBQ. Absolutaly the best barbecue in the whole wide world. Go for the baby back ribs at AB and go for the burnt ends at gates. Make sure and get some beans and lots of white bread.

If your in town on the right weekend then check out the American Royal BBQ championships.

My only suggestion would be to make a slight detour through Marion and pick me up. It would ony be about an hour out of your way...

Have fun!

Well, I think we may have some room on our roof, if you don't mind the wind...

I'm not sure how you're going to be driving from Vegas to LA, for Disneyland, but if you're interested, or rather if you can convince the family to pretend to be interested, you might check out the George S Patton Museum. It's on Hwy 10 between Palm Springs, and the Arizona border.

If you're interested in a very good hobby shop a couple miles from Disneyland there is Brookhurst Hobbies. It was there in the 70s when I was first into the hobby and still going strong.

In San Diego there is also a great air museum, the San Diego Air and Space Museum. It's near the San Diego zoo.

If it were up to me, and I could only go to one of them, it would be the Air and Space museum. It's great.

Have a great trip.

If you are passing through southern New Mexico on the way to Arizona you might consider:

White Sands National Monument (watch out for stray missiles-literally!)
http://www.nps.gov/whsa/

Carlsbad Caverns National Park (a really big hole in the ground)
http://www.nps.gov/cave/

On the historic side:

Lincoln, New Mexico--where Billy the Kid and Pat Garret hung out, and where Smokey (the) Bear was found:

Trinity Site--where the world's first atomic bomb was detonated:

Roswell, New Mexico (my home town)--home of the 509th Bomb Group after WWII (first nuclear bomb capable wing) and a UFO museum.

As well as the Robert Goddard museum detailing his endeavours to create the first rockets.

I know this cool little rest area between Portales and Melrose that is right under the IP for the Melrose bombing range. Used to love to go out there and watch the B-1's out of Lubbock turn in on the bombing runs at about 1000 feet. Remind me to tell you about the time Cannon offered to let a few representatives from the surrounding communities go out there for a bombing demo.

Keep going north when you leave San Diego!

Yosemite National Park

Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Park

Lake Tahoe

The Marin Headlands (north of San Francisco)

San Francisco

Humboldt County along the coast

Any where north of LA will still be mostly cool and fairly green because all of the rain this year.

Have a great time!

Cheers

If you make it to Midland, there's always http://www.commemorativeairforce.org/ . Don't be put off by the name, they have more than just wingie thingies. There's a bunch of vehicles there also.
