This is pretty fun.
Zoom and center until you are close to what you want to see and then hit "satellite" in the upper right corner to get a high res satellite image of whatever you are looking for. Some areas aren't covered in detail but the ones that are are pretty cool.

I was able to see my house, but it's an older satelite shot, from before we put a pitched roof on three years ago.
Now what is the zip code for the naval base in San Diego?

Gee this is cool. I've been using Google maps for sometime now but I haven't noticed this. Thanks for the heads up Shaun.

The satelite shot of my location appears to be 4-7 months old.

That is cool! I can see the rocket ship I built in the back yard for my son, I hope no ones mistakes it for a weapon.
Thanks for sharing, Shaun

This is better than terraserver, the satellite pics are in color. But they don't say when the pics were taken.

Pretty slick, but the shot of Western Wayne County (Detroit) is 3 years old.
However the technology to be able to zoom in and out and across the entire country is pretty amazing stuff!
