I am currently working on a tank that requires orange clear glass and light blue clear glass. Can anyone please tell me of a technique that show me how to do this.

I recall an article not long back in FSM regarding the use of colored mylar for the tinted glass on armor. The mylar looked pretty good.

If the orange is for a rotating beacon or reflectors, Tamiya clear orange is definitely the way to go. Paint the area silver, then hit it with the clear orange. You may need two coats. I'm not sure if they have a light blue, but it's easy enough to make using clear acrylic and a tiny drop of food coloring. If you're doing anti-laser coating, then yeah, mylar is probably best.
If you have the patience, you can do as I did about twelve years ago and make resin copies of the part using clear resin, again tinted with food coloring.

actually the orange is for the headlights and the blue is for the glass of the tank.

You can try a different approach - get a theater light gel. It's basically a colored transparancy. They come in a varity of colors.
You can also check out the craft store and get some transparent films that may work too.

I've heard of that article from FSM before, would be nice to have it online as you can only order that mag as a back issue. Don't want to order a mag for only one article, FSM seems to spend 95% of its time on aircraft so I rarely pick it up to even browse through it anymore.

It was in the Dec 04 issue. Here is the on-line version of the article.

Tamiya makes a range of clear colors, Red, Yellow, and Blue for sure, but I beleive in the last couple of years they have also added Green and Orange. As well they have their Smoke color as well.

With the Clear Red, Yellow, and Blue, you can make any other color you want. You can use the Smoke to darken colors, but I am not sure what you could use to lighten the colors....too bad there wasn't a clear white...LOL

Little oxymoron there!!!

Well, they do make Clear. Plain clear, no color added. Havn't tried it, but I suppose if you start with a large amount and add a drop of the color clear you might be able to make a lighter version. Or add food coloring to the Clear, that might work as well.
