Wish they would reprint some the early Vanguards so I could complete my set. Only half a dozen or so to go now
Some of the earlier ones (specially MAAs under 100) are very dated now, so check that there is nothing later on the same subject. On the other hand there are some goodies in there - like MAA 157 Flak Jackets.

Thanks for posting so quickly Jim, feels like I've only just clicked Submit.
Two publications I'm particularly looking forward to seeing are Rommel's Desert Army and Montgomery's Desert Army.

Any ones in particular that you are missing? Perhaps someone here has one or two that might fill some holes.Wish they would reprint some the early Vanguards so I could complete my set. Only half a dozen or so to go now![]()

I'd like to see them republish some of the Modelling Masterclass books. Didn't they do a figure painting book in that series? I almost think it was by Sheperd Paine. Can't say I enjoyed "Modelling and Painting Figures
(Modelling Manuals 8 ) ".

Okay, now I've found a list to remind me (that was a challenge!), the Vanguards I don't have are
1, 2, 5, 7 and 11
http://www.militaryfocus.com/osprey/vanguard/index.htm
Pretty sure that I've got the rest....

The British ones on the list are generally pretty good, but they do suffer a bit from being published before what we know now entered the public domain. The earlier ones also have two-page colour plates, instead of the individual views which became common later on. So the early plates contains a lot less information.
Some comments based on what I can remember of the contents:
The Guards Armoured volume (9) is useful and was reissued a few years ago and not (too) hard to find. It has two-page plates.
The Churchill (13) was reissued in the New Vanguard series with a cutaway plate replacing some of the original illustrations.
Sherman in British service (15) has some nice stuff, but the usual Sherman ID problems occur and the colour plates aren't particularly accurate.
British tanks in NA (23) Colour plates suffer from mistakes about British desert colours, so they need to be looked at again with the corect information to hand. Bryan Perrett is also not my favourite Vanguard author, the Churchill excepting.
And Allied tank destroyers is poor, managing to confuse the M18 for the M10 in one place, and as for the cover illustration....
