Never heard of a zimmerite "punch". Who is the maker? Is it a press pattern that you press into putty to make the pattern?

I was watching a guy work with the AFV Club one. It was a little tool with replaceable wheel for different zimmerit patterns. The tool also had a zimmerit pattern punch on the end.

It looked real neat, but he said as he rolled the wheel it sort of dug into the putty.

Years ago someone sold resin zimmerit punches to make the "waffle" pattern that was on some of the Stug, IIRC.

There is a review with a pic of the new AFV Club roller over at PMMS.

I actually made something like this with the flint wheel off of a BIC lighter a while back. Should have called those patent attorneys that are on TV all the time in between all of the Geico commercials. Actually worked, sorta...

I have and have used them. Did a mid production Tiger 1 with them. They are a bit challenging and it is a very time consuming project. The key is to work in small sections and to keep the punch free of residue. A steady hand is also quite helpful. I bought a set of the Tamiya scappers after that, and the last one I built with Zimmerit (a Tiger 2 Henschel) I used the cavalier ultra thin resin pieces. I like that the best, it went on easy and it was not cheap, but not expensive either. I found some generic sheets (just a sheet you could cut out your onw patterns rather than the preformed for a specific kit/type) for around $12 that I plan to use on my Porsche turret KT

Okay, so it's not a punch, but a stamping set. I have the set from Zimm-It-Rite and it works like a charm. Like the previous post said, you have to keep the stamps clean, but they work great. If you look at the Panther in my gallery, I did that with Milliput and the Zimm-It-Rite stamp set.
