I know a lot of glass places will either cut the glass for you, or order it in for you if they don't have the equipment to do it right there, but you can order 5 pieces of glass or that plastic stuff.
With one with all 4 sides beveled at 45 degree angles, then the other 4 pieces have 3 sides beveled at 45 degree angles, just have them cut and beveled at the size you need for the size of box your building.
Then 80% of the work is done for you, all you need is clear silicon, and build a frame to hold them together until the clear silicon dries.
Now it doesn't haft to be fancy, just make sure that the angles are correct so the glass holds tight is all. You put the bottom piece in, and silicon all around it, then slip one of the walls in, and do up both sides of the walls, and the same with the next wall piece, with the flat on top, and the 45 beveled part against the bottom.
Now it would probably be better to do this with plastic if your making a real big one, cause of the weight, cause the glass is pretty thick in order to hold on the beveled parts.
I set and watched them make fish aquariums one night, and they were putting them together in seconds, and I'm talking seconds, not minutes.
I had a breakdown, and I never got there until 2 or 3 AM in the morning, and I was supposed to of been there the day before, and they called them in to work, cause they normally only worked during the day, but they had to get these out before Christmas season, so they all came in to work at 2 or 3 in the morning, and started to rush building them.
Then I was talking to the owner while they were unloading me, and finding out all about the glass, this came from PPG I know cause that is where I loaded it at., but he was telling me of some other places they buy from.

See they had a plastic frame to hold the glass together while the put the silicon in, and they leave that tiny plastic frame, but they are going to fill theirs with water, but we won't, so the silicon will hold it well enough.
You know yourself just about how thick it would haft to be, meaning the glass, but for the frames you could use two by fours, or whatever you can make them angles with, and the height doesn't matter cause they are only going to be used just to build the glass case, then they can be disassembled, or what ever you had in mind for them later on.
