Just a heads up. Another 40% off sale at your local Ho Lo. I almost bought a fourth Pershing out there yesterday. Glad I waited.

It ends at next sunday.
The only bad part is Shaun is they keep restocking the same old stuff!
Im going there tomorrow and see if they can restock some other models not just the same old stuff. Hell if we are lucky we can get some Tamyia paints! :-)

Yea, it would be nice if they added some new military stuff. Lately it appears as if they are trying to get rid of it altogether.

Yup, and since my brother works at a Hobby Lobby, I get an extra 15% off! Don't you just love family?

Thanks for your time.

I went to the local Hobby Lobby yesterday. They had a lot of nice things, but I just bought the Tamiya Willys Jeep, old Tamiya Pak 40 and the Tamiya 75mm brass rounds for the Pak 40 and Marder III M.
Of course, now I realize that I have the Marder III and not the III M. I bought the Pak because it was only $4 after discount.
They had a set of German winter troops, but I passed them up because I did not know if they were old 1970s figures or more recent figures. It was set #35256.

I wonder if the promotions manager for Hobby Lobby is getting wise to us? About the only time I see anybody in the model isle is when the sales are on. I'll bet they're thinking, "we can get just as many people coming in at 40% off as we can at 50%." I went there last night, just to see if they had anything I couldn't live without. Lots of cars, or course, and plenty of planes, but really getting picked clean on tanks and ships. I MIGHT pick up another Jeep and Duce and a Half, just to have extras, but probably not. I can wait till they come out with more new stuff.

Rob,
The German assault infantry set w/ winter gear is new(er). Came out about the same time as new Marder III, I think. Not the craptastic 1970s figures. This set has the separate heads and a separate sprue with a bunch of gear. One of Tammy's better figure sets, IMHO.
I stopped by the Ho Lo on the way home after I read your post and grabbed the brass 75mm shells, too. They charged me full price...
Also picked up the Tammy Panther Late and a Hobbycraft rebox of a Trumpeter BMP.
Also crossed the line and bought a 1/72 scale thing with wings on it. God help me.

Hobby Lobby is starting to be like that girl you always wanted to date, but couldn't. Everytime you think you've got the signals right & you're in there you get the "I just wanted to be friends" crap. You're left confused, depressed, & frustrated. Everytime Hobby Lobby has a sale - there's nothing I could possibly want - then I'll just stop by for no particular reason and they'll have some Gundam and 1/35th Armor from somebody else besides Tamiya and Hobby Craft, but whoa the prices. Sale time again? - hello same 'ol 5 or so Tamiya kits. :-)

Darn, should have grabbed it ($10.95 - 40%). The guy at the cash register tried to charge me $9.99 for the brass rounds, but I mentioned it was a plastic model item and he gave me the 40% off. Oh well, next time.
My local shop had all sorts of great items like the King Tiger, Pershing, Marder III, Panther, Tiger I, that neat MRC Mercury space capsule thing and a whole lot of great Tamiya and Accurate Miniatures aircraft kits. Good aisle (both sides) and a half of model kits.

Rob;
What local shop? In my day you had to run up the Dixie Dieway almost into Louisville to find one. All we had was the Toy and garden shop. (68-72)

There is a Hobby Lobby about 35 miles away in Louisville. About 40 miles away in L'ville is a nice shop called Scale Reproductions.
There is also a train shop with some armor kits and sci-fi, aircraft, etc. down in E-Town.
When I first got here in '87, there was a decent shop in Radcliff and the Cav store sold some armor. When I returned in '91, the shop was still here, but it is gone now. There were also a couple of shops in the local malls (all gone now). Toys R Us also sold models when I first got to the Knox area in '87.

Yeah, but there for you probably have much nicer BIGGER model stores somewhere in your state :-) The closets Model store is........ hm about 45 or a hour drive. I dry to go there about every 3 or 4 weeks to get stocked up on paint then back to the hell hole called Marion, Indiana :-)

Yeah, but I had to move 1000 miles to be near one once again and leave the best local shop I've run across after living in seven states and two continents.

Ha ha! There were all these discusssions of Hobby Lobby already. Didn't check since this is my first post in like 2 years. Too bad for folks who do not live near Hobby Lobby. Hmmm. I guess some Hobby Lobbies don't carry variety as the one nearby me. They always have newest Academy and Tamiya stuff. I think it's manager's fault if they don't have the newest stuff. How nice to live in the land of plentiful!
Happy modeling!

45 minutes to an hour? LUXURY! Its 45 minutes to the interstate! Then another 45 to the NEAREST hobby store. However there is a large number of stores in the Seattle area, but its 2 hrs at best. However after a 30 minute ferry boat ride and 30 minute drive, I'm at R & J Enterprises (their home/business) so I guess I can't complain too much. If any of you Ho Lo lurkers find a Tamiya Marder III M for a decent price let me know please! Cheers!
