Do u guys by any chance know where I can find photos, reference or exhibits of Malaysian AFVs. (Besides national day and DSA). Any museum or army base that I can visit?

Thinking of starting a collection of Malaysian Army K200, Adnan, Scorpion and Ferret, some day......

I think its very admirable you are interested in doing local AFV, Adrian. Unfortunately my AFV days are over so I not very up todate.

I know the M'sian armoured division is down at Blue Lagoon, Port Dickson. They have a lot vehicles parked at their compound and although no photography is allowed you can get a very good view of several AFV although I have never seen any track ones. They're so near the fence you can probably sneak a photo or two if you go towards Blue Lagoon's beach and if no one is around and usually there isn't.

Accurate Armor makes the ferret. Beautiful but super expensive. Check out their site. Silantra knows a fair bit about the ferret as his dad use to service one and occassionally drove one.

One of our new guys, Hilmi who runs the Kg. Baru outfit if I'm not mistaken does some model work for the military. He may be able to help you out. His H/P is 012-932-0494. Just mention you got the number from me (Tang).

I once saw the army testing the a tank in Port Dickson a year or 2 ago. It was either a PT-91 or a T-80. It was parked in the shade but could easily be seen from the fence. Too bad I didn't have a camera at that time.

The K200 (KIFV) and Adnan (ACV300) are based on the M113. Academy has a KIFV kit but noticed that the grille is a little different. Maybe our army has an upgraded ventilation system. Hence, why I want to see the actual vehicles.

I've seen ads in Perajurit, etc by this company offering kits of M'sian armoured vehicles. I wonder if Hilmi is involve with it since the company* is also based in Kg Baru. Thanks, Tang for the contact.

I myself haven't been able to find time to do any modelling so my 'malaysian collection' will probably take some years to commence.

*The company is VFA Productions and is based in Ampang :-)

Sorry I couldn't help you more. The outfit in Ampang is possibly the one run by Vernon. You'll need to PM Silantra to confirm. I went there once with him and I do know they make accurate TUDM decals.
