The reason for the 2 is because i felt i have asked this question b4, anyways the tip that was givin to me to make headlights was to carve out the plastic headlights and put aluminum foil and put layers of white glue.apperently this doesnt work how i anticipated it. Now look at the headlights of one of my favorite modelers Steve Zalogas models.

are these headlights bought or made if they are bought can someone tell were i can get them or who makes them. Now if they are made can someone tell me how I can make them clear like that.

Thanx ahead of time.

You might try using layers of "Future", after painting the interior silver. It dries to more of a "glassy" consistency.

You can also try clear epoxy but give it plenty of time to dry. Dribble some in with a toothpick until it's full.

Polyurethane glue added to a half spherical dome made from aluminium foil is another alternative. I've made mine using the transparent sprues that held the stands of the very old Matchbox planes but I suppose the clear ones holding plane canopies will do as well.

The one used below, the right side of the photo, was attached from the inside out after I hollowed out the grill. I attached a bit of aluminium foil to the inside. The left one which is suppose to be smashed just had bits of clear tranparency placed over a dome shaped aluminium foil.

there is a manufacturer about (not sure who) who makes clear lenses in a variety of sizes. Also the model railway supplies have clear lenses as well.

Model Master makes a color that looks really good in headlights.. its their enamal Chrome silver.... also makes great mirrors... and if you only need to fill in a smaller light i've used Testors Clear parts glue... dries clear.... put a little in .. let it dry.. repeat till done.. not sure how it would work on larger lights but plan to try it out sometime.....

I have a stack of MV Lenses that is about 6" thick. They are great. I dont have them broken down as to which light will fit what kit, but I have enough to outfit whatever it is I'm building. If you can find them they are they way to go. Just check your local Railroad section. Most well stocked stores should carry them. "Q"
