I have been building for umpteen years and until recently have never heard of these "filters" that are being used on kits. Is this just another term for a wash or is this something totally different?

Thanks. "Q"

Ola Matthew
Well a lot of people say a filter is nothing more then a wash but in my opinion there is a big difference between the 2 also in the use of it and the goal you reach with it.
Here is a good article by MIG about filtering your vehicles

I think the difference lies in the surface to be "filtered" .. Best done over a matt or ideally, a satin finish.. If done over a gloss finish, you end up with a wash.. This would be an perfect time to drag out the colour wheel and see which colours mix with others for the right shade.. That would be my take on it

Thanks for the info guys. I got it now. Basically a fancy name for a very very thin wash for the entire vehicle to enhance its original color. :-) Too easy. Thanks again. "Q"

Exactly Matthew..... :-) :-) :-) :-)
You know that original color that you spent 6 months researching, custom mixing, and is an exact match for the color chip that was found and saved in poor old departed Uncle Adams wallet of his rare 1943 experimental M-4E35/A47... Shermantigerpanzerslotinater Mk/VVskdfiz 145..... You now add something to enhance or change this color....... so it's more pleasing to the eye, and camera........
