Hi Mojimbo,
Looks like its just you and me around the neighbourhood. During my last visit to MH (December) I remember the Italeri Church door & ruin set hidden away in some corner. Other than that there's an expensive town centre facade over at the hobby shop at Yow Chuan Plaza. Sorry can't remember the scale though.
Most of the ruin sets are pretty expensive. A lot of money for a bunch of ruins. Why don't you make em if its just ruins you need? There are lots of examples in the building section of dioramas.
Styrofoam, plaster and a bit of balsa wood is all you need. Bricks can be made from regular plaster colored with cheapo poster color mixed in when you add water to the plaster. Just make a mold out of plasticine and pour in your colored plaster. Mix the with small stones & sand and Voila! you have rubble.
Use the higher density styrofoam sold at Art supply shops (not the stuff they pack electrical appliances) and you can even scribe in the brick work. Hand prime and paint but avoid automotive primers as it eats up the foam. Add a bit of plaster mixed with fine sand and apply to the destroyed sections to give it a rough edge to the foam.
Its easy, fun and most of all very, very cheap.

Yeah, I would strongly recommend making them yourself as they are not that hard to make. However, if you want to buy them, I think the one in ampang plaza does sell a few.

Hi Mojimbo,
The MH sale, is it the same as the December one? Where 10% off for 1 kit and 30% off for 2 kits?

... i think this march sale is different (is MH having a sale every two months?
).... but the discount rate is the same like you mentioned. any particular kit you're looking for?

Not really. Since they no longer have any of the new kits from Dragon and AFV Club.
Will go there and check out the compressor. Doubt it's on sale though. If anyone needs me to check out anything, do let me know.

Target_J if your'e going can you just check out whether they have any Vietnam era Dragon figures. The last time I went they had only the MACV-SOG which I bought. Anyway I doubt they ever get any new stock for their figures, just like their paints.
Thanks in advance for the assist.

... thanks for the step-by-step tips beachbum... i'll give it a go someday!... probably start with a vignette first. ..and i agree the kit of a 1/35 building is VERY expensive as i found out from overseas stores... darn! probably not worth the money, easier to scratchbuilt anyway...

has anyone else try getting DML kits from hauntedtank? some of the kits are quite new, such as the latest 251 halftracks. the price and service is not bad anyway.

No problemo Mojimbo. Drop us a line if you need any more help. Floogen has also done some nice ruins. I've been over his house to check it out. The plasticine mold for bricks idea is actually his.
Definitely a good idea to start small. Post some pics and maybe the guys here can help out.

Hi Beachbum,
MH stocks the DML US Marines, Tet Offensive 1968. Would this be the one you are interested in?
As for the sale, some of the Tamiya kits curiously have gone missing like the Challenger II, Leopard.

Aaaargh! I had just ordered the Marines on line last month. I could have saved some money by getting it from MH. Was going to use it for kitbashing. BTW Target_J I wrote some stuff on the scratchbuilding post about the ash.
Ah well, many thanks Target_J for checking it out.
