It is from

From what I heard, you warm a piece of sprue and shove it in the metal frame of your choice... let it cool ... et voilą, a nice hex nut you can cut off. Sounds easy enough, but is it worth the money ?

Ezequiel,

I bought these when their first test sets came out.

They are made by a squash method that realy, err, sucks. 'scuss the language, but I was really disappointed after the purchase.

In my humble, and sometimes abroupt, opinion, the Historex Punch-n-die set (yes, it is expensivce, but well worth it) is the better shoice.

First time I saw this kind of tool, I though: " Gosh ! I NEED ' t "....Then, I bought one from a spanish Co...Got a piece of metal, 2" x 2", with more or less 40 holes ( round, square, hex...)
IT DOESN' T WORK !
I couldn' t make more than 2 or 3 ugly blobs, pretendin' to be hex nuts or rivets....!
Truth of the day.....FORGET ' T !
As Dave said, better spend 50$ for a Waldron or Historex Agents Punch & Die Set.....!
' ve a nice day....!

Thanks for your honest reply. I was considering to give it a try, but I'll stick to my tradional punch&die and other tricks of the trade. Thanks,
Jan

Jan in all honesty I found cutting hex platic rod much easier and less costly than buying funky tools.I used my friends hex punch set and it loked terrible.

I use that trick to cut round rivets from rods, but hex rods are hard to find here. I'll have a look around next weekend. Thanks for the hint ! Would you know where to find hex rods on the web ?

Jan I get mine from PLastruct, the Website used to be plastruct.com. If you need I could probably find some in the local hobby shop, no promise on supply or sizre though

Some of the Airfix sprues are hex shaped, although they have two thin sides. I scrape them a couple of times with a blade or razor to make them into a more even hexagon shape, then I stretch them, and cut boltheads from the stretched sprue. The neat thing about this is that I can make any size nut I want to from one sprue, and it's cheap... Just like me.
