Cleaned/re-arranged my shop a few days back. I have more usable room now (Reads, room for more kits! ) Just thought I would share. Here is what I had before...

and here is how she looks now...

I added cabinets along one wall for my 1/72 armor. Amazing how many kits will fit into one cabinet! The display case along the wall houses a few armor pieces, and some aircraft. Mostly it contains items Ihave held onto over my 22 years in uniform. Just reminders of days gone past.. The other case, (butted into the wall) has all that is left after a moving disaster. Still quite a bit, but not as much as before. BOTH Cases were filled to the brim with stuff. Just a reason to build more new stuff I guess. Now I can have a friend or 2 over to build. It was mucho, mucho tight before. "Q"

Matthew,
You gotta stop locking your dog in that room though. (scratchmarks on door)

Nice setup!

The dog(s) actually knocked open the other door that leads outside while this one was shut. That door then proceeded to close behind them. Total blackness for about 5 hours during the day. They did a whole lot of damage before I got home. Luckily nothing major. Just muddy paw prints everywhere.

This "collection" is from 15 years of being back in the hobby. AND you can never have too many models.. :-)

As a wise friend once pointed out: "The day you catch up on your models is the last day of your life". Glad to see you'll live a long time!

A very impressive setup. Wherever did you find the display cases?

I like the MaK/SF3D stuff, too, by the way. Have any built? I'd like to see them.

Cool place you have there Matthew.
I'll have a place like that, when the kids move away from home, in about 20 years. Well it's good to have something to look forward to.

By standing up, I take it you mean do I jump any more? If so, I wish I did. Actually the jumping isnt so bad, its the landing at the bottom. Morelike a controlled crash. I tried to get permissive status here a few years back, but the command wouldn't hear of some one jumping for no pay and all of the danger involved... go figure. So my log stops at 54. Just shy of my master rating. Oh well.

I got the display cases from a couple of stores here that were going out of business. I think I paid about $300 for the both of them. Ihad twomore, but had no room for them so I sold them. As to the SF3D stuff,
I have one built. AFS Mk1 that I tweaked a little. Added zimmeritt and scaled it to 1/48. I'll get ya some pics posted. I had others, but they got trashed in the moving disaster.

I flew this on my gun truck. It is signed by all of the guys in my section/ sniper team. A couple of whom aren't with us any more. Another small something to remind me of days gone past. Thanks for all the interest guys. "Q"

Matt,

Like the set up, the shelves around the top are a great idea I may have to use on mine. I have lots of room to work and not a great display area. REALLY have to work on that, but I think you have solved this problem! I will have to keep an eye out for those type of display cases.

Again, good job.

Matt, beautiful set -up I'm jealous, I can't believe you actually have a room to model in. I mean you can actually close the door and run around naked playing with fireworks if you want to - or model. Great peaceful, relaxing, no interuption, hide-out . My kingdom for a modeling room! - Cheyenne

I see you're investing in plastic.
That's a LOT of stuff.
My SHMBO would kill me if I did that.

Hi,
it's time to stop collecting and start building :-)
or maybe it's what you want to be your inheritage.

I'm lucky enough to get only 7 kits to go otherwise I guess my wife could turn mad about this/my hobby (beloved one !) and get me out of home

Olivier, I build all right. I just have this nice pile to choose from. Bad thing is, I am always adding to the pile faster than I can remove from it! :-) :-) "Q"

My sisters come to my house, and wonder why I have so many models, but I don't even have a fraction of the models you have, for I can build all mine in a few months, if I really got after them, cause over half of them are already cleaned, and just waiting final assemble, and painting, but what you have, I never could finish in my life time.

I think you are better stocked then my LHS, I know you got more models then they have.

When I first got back into the hobby sometime around 1992 I was living in government quarters on Ft. Bragg. Off of my main bedroom there was a small room that was maybe, 6'x10' and this is where it started. When I moved from North Carolina to Colorado in July of 1996 I physically hauled every single kit and built model I had in my truck (Toyota SR5 longbed) as I wasn't trusting the government movers to move them. The entire bed was filled to the top and covered with a shell. Everything remained boxed up until December 1996 when our house was finished. The house came with a three car gargae standard. I knew right away what I was going to do with the third car portion. Problem was it took until I deployed to Iraq in 2003 for it to finally matrialize. The wife had this built for me as a welcome home present. I'm keeping her. I agee... I'm lucky. In more ways than one. "Q"

Your right about not trusting them on moving your stuff, even though it is supposed to be moving companies that are contracted to move it, they sub contract to a lot cheaper freight company to haul it for them, which in turn can mean it will go on equipment with spring suspensions, then your models would of been all busted.
