That's great.....
Being an old man who has always been a Gene Kelly fan, and always wished I could dance like him, I'm sure if he were alive today, he'd be not only dancing like that, but enjoying every second of it.
Thanks for posting it.... made my day

I have watched this ad and I have to admit that I feel uneasy about using images like this of dead stars, presumably without their permission. Where could it lead?

This certainly isn't the first time they've used dead actors. The John Wayne beer commercial, Steve McQueen Ford commercial and a couple examples. Now they've got a Pepsi commercial using a scene from Spartacus. It's kind of funny but I wonder if Kirk Douglas is getting a cut? They even used Lawrence Olivier in Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

I think as Grumpy said Gene Kelly would be flattered by this , it isnt meant to deride him in any way. Besides its been going on for a long time Im sure if there was a problem then it would have surfaced by now , Check out the old Steve Martin film Dead men wear plaid (or isit dont wear plaid?) it was liberally spliced with scenes from Humphry Bogart movies , also the film that spawned the name for the technique used in this VW commercial (gumping) Forrest Gump.
I dare say therell be many opinions on this but for me it makes me smile everytime I see it, It brightens me up for the day ahead.

That was pretty neat I have to admit. I love Gene Kelly...and I'm not even that old...40 isn't old...is it?
