I cleaned up and rearranged my shop the other day and this is what I came across. Think I have enough airbrushes? The oldest is the Paasche VL double action. It is 30 years old and still works like a champ. "Q" New pics of the shop to follow shortly.

I recognize mine. I've got the Paasche double action which is in the middle on the right hand side. It's a very dependable unit for sure.

But I think you need to get a few spares. Just in case. :-)

The AB Turbo is a nice brush for shooting very, very thinned mediums ie. inks. I am planning on doing a 1/72 Ju-88 in the squiggle pattern. This will be the ticket for it for sure. The needle is so small that it doesn't take much to clog it. It sounds really cool too as it is spooling up. Sounds just like a turbo. Maybe thats why they named it that? "Q"

I'll second that one Red. I have 2 Paasche V's at least that age and they work great.

If a Paasche last for more than 30 years, you have airbrushes for the next 300 years at least.

I have one.

The VL was my first brush. Once I started getting into more and more complex painting issues, I would check out different brushes. Not once, other than the initial purchase of my VL have I ever paid "full" price for a brush. I would shop at shows, check pawn shops, etc to find them. I doubt I have more than a couple hundred bucks spent between all of them, and that is spread over many, many years. I have ones that are used only for Acrylics and others that are strictly for enamels. And as I already stated, the AB is for inks. The trick is remembering how each one handles as they all have their own personality. "Q"

OK, I will ask the stupid question.....

What is the one on the bottom of the second column???? I can tell its a double action....but the head looks really mangled, in the picture anyway.....almost looks like an optical illusion....

Can't imagine how it would work looking like that.

Scott, that is the Paasche AB Turbo. Professional phtographers will use these to retouch photos and such. I use it for very very fine work. Only drawback to it is the medium has to be extremely thin, ie. inks or the needle will clog. I have used it on some large scale figures for flesh tones, and it is the ticket for such work. "Q"

Ahhh nothing can beat the reliability of a good old Paashes VL ..I've had quite a few ABs over my modeling career but my VL is still sitting on my workbench to do all the big jobs like base coats ...I'll never get rid of that one for sure.
