I've got one of the Testors/Italeri ones somewhere. I believe it is the M109A2. Don't think I'll ever get to it.

I wish I knew that earlier... I just bought one on eBay from a guy in France. I sent him the money and now wait for the kit. Oh well - I'm sure Joe will do it justice!

Hey Vodnik, If anyones to do it justice...that's you. Your armor builds are amazing. If you need it for something special, you can have first dibs on..I don't mind

Joe, Gordon,
Thanks guys, but as I wrote above I should get one soon.
I expect the French guy to get the money order this week, and I should get the kit in a week or so later.
I don't plan anything special for it really. I simply decided to have all M108/M109 major variants in my collection (i.e. one M108, one short barrel M109, one of long barreled M109s i.e. A1,2,3,4 or 5 and one M109A6 Paladin). I already have M108, M109E4/A1/A2 and M109A6 kits in the stash and now will add short barreled M109 from that French seller. I already have Barrel Depot short barrel, so I was looking for any Italeri M109 kit to put it on (except Paladin) and found this one in France. I got (will get?...) it quite cheaply - in total with shipping it costed me 15 euro. One was recently sold on Polish auction website for 25 euro!!!
And knowing my building speed you can expect this M108/M109 family to be finished around 2018
:-)

Pawel, I'd love to see a picture of your M108. Where did you get the conversion barrel for that? Those are pretty unusual. I believe several European armies may have used them, but I don't think the US ever had very many units equipped with the 105mm, the thinking being that the Direct Support for a Mechanized unit needed to be 155mm.

Testors/Italeri produced the M108 just before they made the M109 (short barrel). I believe I have one of those kits sitting around that I will never get around to build.
The US used the M108 for a very short while but then converted them all to M109s (according to the Hunnicutt book).

As Rob wrote - Italeri made M108 kit. A few weeks ago I managed to find it in stock in Japanese Rainbow Ten!
US Army used them early in 'Nam War and my model will represent a vehicle from these times.Pawel
