I have a bit of a problem with my Academy Wirbelwind kit. Its a great kit but the 2 glues I've used on it (Tamiya Extra Thin Cement & Ambroid Safe Weld) result in a bond that never entirely dries. The connection stays together by itself well enough but it can be easily pulled apart. The Tamiya cement works amazingly on the Tamiya kits I've used it on and I haven't tried the Ambroid other then small test. The glue that came with the kit works no better.

Glue gone bad? Need a brand specific glue? Any help would be appreciated.

Tmaiya's cement works on ANY plastic....

my guess would be that your 'mix' the 2 glues together? resulting in unexpected results?

anyhow, just clean the bad part with a damp rag and then use ONLY a single glue

I'll make sure to clean the parts with a damp rag just to make sure. I'm not mixing the the glues, I'm just testing on other parts and having a bad go of it. But I'm wondering if perhaps my glues are contaminated? The older Tamiya cement works slightly less well then the new Ambroid stuff.......maybe thats it.

You could try just using plain old super glue. When I run out of modelling glue(that stuff that welds plastic together) and can't get to the model shop for a while i jsut use super glue. Works fine.

Glues and adhesives do go bad after a while and just 'lose it'. They just sit there and don't do anything much at all.Super glues too! Try real fresh stuff and see what happens.
