Avoiding the fight in the first place is always the best way ESPECIALLY if you have some form of training, as it is quite possible to seriously injure an opponent and end up on an asault charge yourself. There may always be that one situation though where it is legitimately self-defence. We were told quite firmly that the skills we learnt were not to be used in 'civvy street', but of course the moment you are attacked you forget that.

I've been doing fencing, but unfortunately now my knees are giving in. My homeopath has given me some stuff she claims will help but I am having serious doubts about it's effectiveness  
 
My weapon of choice at the moment is the Epee, but if my knees get better I'll hopefully take up Sabre as well. If they don't... I guess I'll just have to spend more time modelling...
