I 'fell over' the linked thread this morning as well - I heard about it the other day. Wow! It's a curious thing, when other manufacturers are going into smaller kis (such as 1/48th scale) and then Trump announces a beast like this...

As far as I understand it, there are also other images of a mock-up, i'll try and find them, and post them in the news section...

What has annoyed me, is all the ridiculous rumors and criticisms which have started already.... Some have already criticised it's accuracy and others have accused them of ripping off a resin kit... quite a trick with one image...

Personally, I can see some real potential for this in dioramas an Trumpeter should be congratulated for originality. I doubt if i'd get one due to the size of the beast...Jim

I totally agree, Jim. Trumpeter have given us some amazing kits so far, but this has to be the cream of the crop. I cant count the amount of times Ive seen posts on affordable locos, and wishes for similar. Now theres a light in the tunnel. I know I´ll definately be picking one up. I´ll even but a shelf on the living room wall.. long enough to show this, my leopold and a few dragon cars. My mouths watering!

I'm already thinking about some serious urban warfare scenes with a wrecked loco

Well as usual... Big Dreams... little action. Many times I have considered building a wrecked loco buried in urban rubble like in Berlin or Stalingrad. Since it's a wreck accuracy won't be an issue and huge sections can be just twisted metal or hidden in rubble.

Well Carl if the German train sells maybe they will produce an allied one. You never know.

But realistically Allied trains in theater cam much much later almost after the fall of the Germans. The trains were used to rebuild France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.

German trains were used thru the entire conflict for many reasons.

Its not an Allied vs German thing. Its more bang for the buck.

I'm probably going to get this German one, but the only other one I'd consider would be a Russian one. American and British just wouldn't interest me since they are tough to place into a scene I'd be interested in (with the exception of the American Daylight locomotives - a more beautiful machine hasn't yet been built).

In the same vein, it would also be cool to get French/German/Russian WW1 era loco.
