I'm just curious because I get the impression not many have their models in the hobby room/area. Where do you keep your finished models ?? Only in the hobby room/area ??
As for me, I have most of my models on display in my hobby room. But any model I'm reasonably pleased with I put in the living room for all to admire (at least that’s the idea). And SWMBO has strict orders not to touch or go near the models of course.

Most of my finished models, I keep in a cabinet, in my daughters room(My ex modeling room)
Some of my models I have on diplay in these two cabinets

SWMBO actually sugested, that I should by one more of these cabinets to hang in the living room. That I will do.

The most recent go in labeled boxes for transport to shows. After they are "retired", they go on display on bookcases in my workshop room.

In my sleeping room, which is also the place where I make my models, and I put them everywhere where there's room :-)
I'm also going to try to make my own show cases, to keep them free from dust...

What's a finished model
Mine occupy any available horizontal space around the living room, before gradually being displaced upstairs into boxes in the spare room. And cupboards....

All mine go into hard plastic see through shoeboxes. I cut a piece of foam the size of the bottom of the box them cut a hole in the foam so the model fits snuggly in the foam. My most recent creations get some time on a small shelf in the living room but them quickly get's transfered to a showbox to be stored on a shelf in my storage room.
Here is a sample pic of when I was transporting them to my deck for outdoor pics

Well right now I keep my "finished Models in a Antique hutch in the living room.... the top part has 3 shelves with glass doors that were for china.. but they work well for my models... here is a pic from a couple years ago.. its getting a bit more crowded now but I have room for a half dozen more 1/35 groundhuggers yet or a couple of small 1/48 wingythings.. after that I will have to start pulling a few of them for long term storage..
have to try and keep SWMBO's stuff out of it.. after all she has a antique curio cabinet thats 3 times the size of mine.....to bad its full of her "junk".

I just bought this display cabinet at Wal-Mart for $224:

I looked up the company's website and it runs $343 there. Great item, to see it, go to http://www.mortonbooth.com/ and click on unique displays.

In a mixture of display cases in the garage, the only place I'm allowed to have them! Some figures were allowed in the living room in the china cabinet, but when SWMBO wanted a new sideboard they got relegated to the garage ("I'm sick of looking at tanks & things in my living room!").

I've got three display cabinets
One at my parents' home, one in my current house and the last in my holidays house.
So wherever I go, I can still admire my masterpieces (joke :-) )
My main problem is that I'm on active duty and I need to move regularly. This is the only way not to damage too many of them every two or three years.
Each move is a nightmare as I've no special boxes to carry them. Fortunately I'll be retired in a couple of decades

I keep most of mine in my home office but rotate 4-5 every couple of months to my business office. They become quite a topic of conversation with my workmates.

When we re-modeled our family room two years ago SWMBO surprised me by having this built in where previously we had open book shelves and a storage cabinet. She specifically said it was to display my models. Naturally I didn't mind this Christmas when she asked for me to clear all but the "Big E" out so she could set up and display her collection of various Nativity Scenes. And the only reason my stuff's not back in there now is that I've been too busy "building" to move stuff back up from the basement. :-)

Mine are on a set of shelves in my living room. (Oh, the advantages of living alone!!!!) I've had a number of neighbours taking peeks through my window to see what's up there. (I live in a ground floor apartment, btw.)

Right now all of my models are in storage in the basement / shop where I do all of my model building. Each tank has its own case. I buy IMEX cases and secure each one to the base of the case. The best part is that they are stackable and they keep the kit perfectly safe.

Mine are in my work shop inside two 8' display cases. One case has my models and the other has a few models in it and some of my memorable items from my 22 years of Army service. Both cases are getting ready to be repositioned as I re-arrange the shop. Hopefully I'll have more room. Things are getting alittle tight. Here's an early pic. The one display case is just visable in this

and a better shot of the two cases. "Q"

Anywhere SWMBO lets me.
Had a good laugh the other day. She was in the Hobby / Computer room nosing around to see if I bought anything lately and made the comment "I guess you don't have any models in the storage locker anymore" (looking at the unbuilt models I have in the room). I broke out laughing couldn't help myself and confessed that most of the unbuilts were still in storage. Her answer "What am I (she) going to do with all these" there is a clue there somewhere.

That is a lot of boxes for your 50 sherman
well, I reckin its about 50 boxes actually.Geez, Red, you opening a model shop?
For me, it goes wherever they can in my room. I only have six or seven models completed, but not a lot of flat space to put them. I am quickly running out of room and will have to clear out one of my used display cases to make room. But by the time I am out of room, I should have an apartment and room to put them.

Well I pretty much give away most of the things I build. Mostly to Veterans Posts, AMVET's and The Buffalo Navel Service Mans Park. Things I do keep are either on a shelevs or boxed up in the attic.
