I drove down to Black Rock on Sunday to have a look at HMVS Cerberus for myself, and it was a depressing sight.
Not only is the structural failure of the hull evident but the only signs warn against going in or on the hull. There's nothing about the historical significance of HMVS Cerberus.
Even if you're not into naval history and modelling, why not support the efforts to save HMVS Cerberus?
You can buy a card model with proceeds going towards restoration. There's also a new 1/700 model from Combrig that doesn't have anything to do with saving the real thing but I'm finding it hard to resist anyway.

When I was a kid me and my mates used to wag school and go to black rock and swim out to it, we would climb up to the deck, but aren't allowed to go on it anymore, it has sunk a lot now, it's not as good as it was back then.

I heard about it when my dad was researching the queensland navy's ship the Gyunda -iunfortunately in even a worse state than the Cerubus a rusting skeleton at woody point new redcliffe
our history always cost to much -but our govt can waste billions on other things.
Parent are research members of Queensland Museum- the cultural section has no money but the Govt is spending huge amount to build a new gallery space for modern art-(splashes of colour with some long winded description and writing all over it- Not art just mass cloning by art teachers
Sorry for rant but have been very close to a lot of historical collections and seen them either turned into rusty piles of undesernable metal or watch some smart auctioeer split the collection and sell the important pieces overseas
