David

I've never really got into the Holden-Ford thing.

I've got a Ford now but it's actually a re-badged Nissan so it probably doesn't count.

I've never had a Holden and, apart from the Ford/Nissan my car makes have been MG, Suzuki, Toyota and Bits-a-missen.

OK, although I have never owned a Holden, one of my older brothers used to lend me his very unusual 253 cu in manual Holden Premier (3 speed column shift) and it used to go like **** out of a shanghai. Even when it was into its third decade it still had some go and you can't beat the sound of a V8.

At the other end of the scale, my Dad took us all round the country in his Ford 10/10 (that's 10cwt payload and 10 hp - before bhp). It was a panel van (recently immortalised by Dinky Toys) with cable brakes, no power to speak of (my mates still talk about how Dad would reverse it up steep hills), and home-made bench seats in the back so that the whole family (6 children) could travel together.

So, what's my pick?

Childhood memories are powerful and the Nissen/Ford has taken me to great places without too many problems so I'm going with Ford!

I don't care too much about the marque, I care more about the specific vehicle. I prefer the Commodore to the Falcon because of the additional leg room for the driver (and I need it!!!), and that they are bit more springy in the handling.

In the end though, they're both cage-maker - give me a bike!
