I just posted a message on the Introductions Forum so you can read all about me if you're so inclined.
I live in Box Hill, east of Melbourne, but I grew up in Coburg in the northern suburbs. Military service in the early 1970s gave me the opportunity to experience Puckapunyal, Windsor, Holdsworthy, Indooroopilly, Townsville, Papua-New Guinea and lots of places in between.
Over the last ten years or so, I have travelled throughout Australia and there are only a few places that I haven't experienced, the south west of WA for one.
Without repeating my post on the Introductions Forum, my main modelling interest is 1/76 and 1/72 military vehicles and naval craft.

Welcome to the site. I am sure that lestweforget will be happy to see another Vic in the group.
I won't hold it against you that you build "targets" :-) .
You must have very good eyesight to handle 1/72 and 1/76. I do 1/35 and 1/48 - figures, planes, armour - just about anything as long as it is military and WWII related.
My eyes must be starting to go because I am thinking now of starting 1/32 and 1/24 planes. Only hiccup is that there is no room for them.
Have fun around this site - just be careful you don't spend so much time here that you get NO modelling done.

I just got my first pair of reading glasses
(probably a few years after I should have) and it's now quite obvious that my models aren't as good as I thought they were.At least I have now got a good excuse to replace all my sub-standard models but no excuse for not making more progress than I have in the past.

I have admired your trucks - they're inspirational!
I have quite a collection of 1/76 WW2 and 1/72 modern softskins but no Aussie trucks yet. I may use one of my Matchbox LRDG Chevys for a smaller version of your model. The Airfix GMC is another possibility for an Australian vehicle.
I have also got a resin grader that could end up as an RAAF airfield construction squadron vehicle (my Dad's unit).
I have got several diecast and plastic 1/72 Series III Landrovers that will need a bit of work to Australianise and apparently there's a 1/72 Unimog that could be kit-bashed into an Aussie version.

Transport Corps?
Jason
My military service was compulsory but was mostly an enjoyable and interesting experience.
I was marched out Officer Training just before graduation and, after cooling my heels at Watsons Bay for a while, ended up doing MP Corps training at Holdsworthy.
It turned out to be a good posting as I moved around quite a bit, got to play around on motorcycles (often escorting APCs) and spent time on exercise in Papua-New Guinea.
The exercise was over the battlefields of Finchhafen and Satelberg and it was fascinating to see the WW2 bunkers still in place, not to mention unexploded ordnance, pieces of helmets, etc, and the odd fragment of human bone. It certainly gave me an appreciation of how difficult it would have been fighting over that terrain and against an entrenched enemy.
