I enter the site & have about a day's worth of unread messages (red-ish flags). All is oK until I post a reply and then all remaining unread messages are cleared to read-status & I have to watch date-time.
I think this happened before, but I cannot remember what was done to fix it (you or me).

Actually this is a common mis-conception. The "red" folders don't indicate topics you have not read, but topics with new posts since the last time you visted. The time increment is about 10 to 15 minutes I think so if you stay on the site for that long then yes all the "since x time" posts would change. I will have to look at this code though because I can probably fix it so that at minimum it will only reset the "since x time" indicators when you leave the site and then come back (after a set time has elapsed).
