I'm new to airbrushing and learning new things every day. I have a Badger 175. I thought downward pressure would start the air..........and increasing downward pressure would increase air pressure. This is not the case. Does anyone feel a good "detailed" paint job on aircraft and armour can't be done without a regulator to adjust the pressure. I believe my compressor pumps around 25psi. Thanks in advance.

I think the Badger 175 is a single action, meaning the air to brush with is either on or off when you push the trigger. If you want to do more intricate patterns with it you will need a regulator, just to help out with spray width (actually an over-spray issue). BUT having said that you should be able to airbrush camo's easily. On the other hand I don't think you can expect to be able to do an intricate German camo, I'm specifically thinking of like those I have seen on a Heinkel.

Another aspect to think about with a single-action airbrush is paint thickness. You should be thinning the paint at least a little to be able to use the regulator to help control the width pattern. Understand right when I use the term width with air pressure, I understand the airbrush itself can regulate the pattern width, but what I am meaning is overspray. Overspray is when too much air pressure is present for the thickness of the paint, overspray makes you lose control of the width the airbrush regulates.

She said she needed some "hair-curler thing-a-ma-jig". I'm sure its gonna cost as much as my regulator.

Some poor sparrow flew right into the living room window yesterday... the poor sucker was out of it for probably half an hour.
