This is by far the absolute worst Sherman tragedy ever to plague mankind!
I just took count of my finished armor collection. I counted 5 German tanks and 20 Shermans. If it's true that "One of our tanks (German) is better than 10 of yours but you always have 11," then I need 55 Shermans. With 1 on the table and 2 in the stash that leaves me 32 Shermans short. Arrrrgh!

This just means you have to mass produce them as America did sixty years ago. Of course, like sixty years ago, this won't be cheap, but it is for a rightous cause; crank 'em out.

Does this mean that we will have to hand in all the plastic items in our households, to 'aid the war effort' ?

Could we do this photographically? I can contribute about 15 shermans! (more if the 4 Fireflies and 2 Achilles count extra)
PS - I also have 3 tigers - oops!

Will the 105 mm Howitzer version count? Not sure if it would be any good against a Tiger though...

First of all I'd like to thank everyone for your support. I plan on making an attempt to fill the shortfall. I was not counting any of the M7, M10 type tanks. If we did I could add three more but I am speaking strictly M4 types.
Henk I included the 105mm because it's still an M4 type tank. Let's just match those up in an arty duel with the Stugs, Brummbars, and Sturmtigers.
Martinn I don't think there is any way to know because the Sherman was tinkered and modified to do everything. There are, of course, the 5 major variants in WW2 (M4, M4A1, M4A2, M4A3 and M4A4). Then there are all sorts of manufacturing variants like upswept return rollers, different degree hull fronts, gun sizes, turret models... etc. Don't let them darksiders fool you when thry say allied armor has no variety.

Just so that I understand it..
Alan, you want to build 55 shermans so you have 11 shermans against each german tank you have, and you want to build them for the One of our tanks campaign?
Maybe I can build a M4A1 76mm for you
Send me a message if so...

No Martinn but thanks for the offer. I have already entered two Shermans for the Campaign. I just wanted my personal collection to match that famous statement. That would be 5 German vs 55 Shermans.

Let me add in my throw in my six T-34's ... a nice healthy mix of 76mm and 85mm.... that should just about even the score against those Tigers.

A tip to everyone, go through this thread again, reading very quickly and watch how quickly this topic degrades and you will just laugh and laugh.
As for my contribution:

If this doesn't take out 5 Tigers, what will?
Jeff
PS - posting that image with the gallery down for maintenence was a feat in itself.
