Don,
Howdy! Small world eh?
Are you active in either of the local IPMS clubs? I am not myself as this site keeps me too busy to model. A shame isn't it? I keep telling myself I will get back into the game but so far I am just spectating.
How long have you lived in Clovis? We moved here from Virginia about 3 years ago (almost).
Cheers,
Jim

Been here for about 14 years...born and raised in the area around Fresno. I am sometimes a member of the Fresno Scale Modelers. Meetings are hard to attend sometimes.

I can't believe that with all these people here in the Fresno area there aren't any good hobby shops
Where are you guys hiding them. All I have found is a so so Hobbytown USA (not a bad shop but kind of a little of everything not alot of anything kinda place)
I'm about 3 miles south of Yosemite near the town of Fishcamp

The Fresno Area has a good sized cadre of Armor and Auto modelers - always seeking more to join the local chapters. I was at the IPMS Kings County Contest too a couple of weeks ago. For their very first model show - they did a bang-up job! I wish the first contest I put on so long ago was half as well run. I took a bunch of photos there, but as a contestant, I didn't get names of the modelers who built them.
All I know about there is the local HobbyTown USA too...

Hobby Town is the best, but with Ernie leaving, I have to think the model section is going to go downhill. They really consentrate heavily on the R/C stuff.....
You would figure that for a town with 500,000 people that it could support two hobby shops!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I first moved to Clovis 3 years ago I noticed a closed-down hobby store in Clovis (downtown). So we *use* to have our own apparently.
I was in Hobbytown a few weeks ago. The model section did appear to be shrinking. Dolls taking over...

Wow...so we are up to 4 in this area (that I know of).
The next event I will likely be at will the the San Jose show in Feb(?).
Cheers,
Jim

Yes it was open for a few years. Mainly into cars and racing. Had a couple of tanks and some planes. It was close to the house so it was easy to get supplies there.

I called in to talk to him and Jason said he didn't work there anymore. He just comes in every now and then... I have not a chance to email him as of yet. I need to, he made mention of a metal landing gear for the 1/48 Trumpeter FW-200 and I am going to need one in the next few weeks.

I'm in Hemet not to far from Ron T.
If I want to go to a good hobbyshop I wait till I visit my brother in Anaheim and go hangout at Brookhurst.
