Hopefully someone here will be able to help me out. My question: Were there any Tiger 1 EARLY versions used on the Western front after the Normandy invasion by the allies. Or by that time were all the Western front Tigers Mid and/or late versions. The reason I'm asking is because I want to make a Tiger dio on the western front, with an early version Tiger and no Zimmerit. Therefore would this be historically accurate.

I couldn't find any Tiger 1's without zimmerit in Normandy in any of my books, but I found some pictures of Mk.4H's, Panther A's, and Tiger 2's (Henschel Turret) without.

Sorry Sarge,
all photo + documentary evidence I've seen points to normandy / western front Tiger1's having zimmermit, all-steel road wheels and the late cupola version....your tiger has to be Afrika, OSTfront or possibly Italy immediate post invasion....that is if you are interested in doing a historically accurate vehicle...but it's your choice build what you want
cheers,
Dave
