Okay... my first post...
I buy a lot of stuff from the net these days...
Only decent shop I know of is Grand Prix Models in Boksburg.
They got a good selection... but I would not buy there again if I can help it.
But I'm also interested to know which shops, if any, you guys would recommend.
cheers!

Hi MockTurtle
Firstly, welcome to Armorama, the best military modelling website around!
I see you are in Gauteng, but the places I use do mail order as well.
I use Jeffrey Stein Sales in Bree Street, Cape Town for all my Tamiya, Italeri and Badger Airbruch stuff. They are the official agents of all these brands and several more including Hasegawa.
I also use Thom's Hobbie haven in N1 City, Parow. They don't have a great range of kits, but they keep the full Humbrol and Model Master paint ranges at reasonable prices.
The Dads and Boyz hobby Shop in Tygervalley, Bellville has a fair range of military kits, but his speciality is Warhammer.
I steer clear of Topflyte Hobbies, Durbanville. The kits are all old and he never gets new stock. His service is also pathetic!
You can contact MDF in PE. He is a mail order service, ordering mainly from HobbyEasy .
I also check out hobby shows. I have picked up a few bargains at these.
Else, like you, I am forced to order kits over the internet. I use the UK lot, and have them dispatch it to relatives and friends in the UK, who either post it to me once the stock has built up or bring it back on visits.

Hi Mockturtle,
Since you are in Gauteng, East Rand I presume, the following shops can be recommended :
Esswex - Northcliff Corner, Randburg - Only Verlinden stockist, bit expensive but a very good range.
Toy Train, Meyerton - Not bad, good armour and aircraft variety. - Tamiya stockist, gets from jeffrey Stein.
Speedway, Three Rivers, Vereeniging - Trumpeter & Humbrol.
Happy Modelling,
