Windex is a type of window cleaner ,ammonia based,I think. What the hell are you planning to do with it,I have heard of floor cleaner(Johnsons wax) used for modelling but not window cleaner so far.

Hi Jason,
I would say a way do find out what it is called would be to look on woolworths or foodtowns (or any online NZ supermarket) in the cleaning section for 'window cleaner' and see what it comes up with.
Are you going to use it to clean your AB?

I think it's the same as Windolene (sp) or Mr Muscle window cleaner.

Yeah... using Tamiya acrylic with tamiya thinner and the thinner cost heaps so I was looking for a subtitute and I have read everywhere that Windex is a good airbrush cleaner and not as bad for fumes
Klear or future as they call it in other places I will use for clear coating

Let me get this straight,Jason ,you are looking at windex to use to clean the airbrush;instead of using tamiya thinner.,turps works good for this, but if windex does it, with less fumes, then great.

As to a substitute for Tamiya acrylic thinner for airbrushing use, does anybody have any suggestions because my bottle is almost empty and I regret using it to light the barbie!

Tankduel,
Now thats a new use for thinner lol :-)
are you sure it was acrylic thinner? Because water can be used to thin acrylic paints too?

The acrylic didnt seem to work so I put some enamel thinner on after that. But I dont think I can attribute starting the barbie with either of them because I just tried to light a small puddle of each(more waste) and neither would light.
Are you saying that instead of buying Tamiya Acrylic thinner I can just use water ,is that what you do?

Yep thats right Tankduel,
Acrylic paint is waterbased where Enamels are oil based.
Though the Tamiya acrylic thinner may not be water but with other added chemicals but water is just as good and free!!.
