Ive been following this case of the soldier accused of abuse of prisoners, they keep refering to him as a specialist Ive heard this term before but I would like to compare it to a british army rank. i dont wish to comment on the case.

Specialist 4 is the fourth rank you can achieve as an enlisted soldier without being an NCO.
Pvt = E1
Pvt = E2
Private First Class (PFC) = E3
Specialist 4th Class (SP4) = E4
Corporal = E4
