Has anyone tried to make windows with this? The instructions on the back of the bottle seem really vague. I need to make a headlamp for a large IR lamp and want to use this technique. Was wondering if anyone had used the Testors Clear Parts Cememnt & Window Maker in the past and if they knew what works and what doesn't.

I use Testors clear parts glue and I find its a great product for gluing clear parts and also for filling in small gaps inbetween clear parts.

but if the gap is too wide the glue tends to sag.. I think as for window making its ok for very small ones such as the side windows in a 1/48 scale bomber, but anything larger prob wouldn't work too well.

If you want a flat peice there is a product sold by micro mark called micro-glaze that claims u can make windows up to 1 inch in size.. but I've never needed to try this product..

Micro-Glaze at micro mark

there is also a technique i've been experimenting with using clear plastic or clear sheet styreen to use making headlights for tanks and such.. the advange here is you don't have to make a flat sheet it can be curved..

that site is here

Home made lens for lights.

hope it helps

Micro glaze is ok for small windows but I wouldn't use it on anything over a 1/4" square. If you are looking for lenses look into model railroad detail parts. Lenses are made in many sizes and several colors.
