I copied a floor section picture from a well known model manufacturer off the internet. I then made it look 3D in a graphic program (don't quite know how i did it, i was messing about with it). Am i likely too get my backside sued, its for my own personal use or is it still illegal??? . Thankyou in advance. ( am now hiding under the desk as the doorbell just rung).

Since it's for your own use and it's been modified and it's not something that can easily be copyrighted, you're prbably pretty safe. Start seling it and you could be in trouble.

Legally speaking it depends on a number of things, is it an exact dupe? Would something think it was theirs (the company in question) if it was seen. Did you do it with the idea of profit or malice?
In short if you are doing it for yourself it is no worse than recording a movie off TV or a song off the radio. It is considered "private use" so no you will not get sued for private use. I'm speaking of American law, not sure what the rule is in the UK but it should be close.

:-) :-) :-) I think Scotland Yard is a little busy, to worry too much about this...... just as long as you don't start selling them. :-) :-) :-)

You are under Arrest. You have the right to remain silent. Should you choose to waive this right, anything you say or do could be held against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you can't afford an attorney, one will be provided to you by the state.
Do you understand these rights?
Good!
Face down on the floor mister...hands behind your back...no talking.
"Yo' goin' to meet Bubba...yo' new jailhouse Luva!"
At least that's how it would work here in the States.
I probably forgot to recite some of the Miranda rights..in which case...even if you were a Serial killer with 57 bodies in your cellar...you would walk....because of a technicality.
But still....be afraid...be very afraid!

I make LISP programs for CAD. Their are a lot like me who post their work and list it for free on the net. since they expressly mention that it's free and can be used or abused then I sometimes copy and modify it for my needs.

So you need to make sure that whomever you copy it from does not have a copyright or if he/she mentioned that it should not be copied in anyway or form.
