I want to know if anyone here looks at an old model they built and decides to redo it years later because of your improved skill/wallet/supplies? Does anyone remove a model from an old diorama to reuse it a newer one they want to build?

BTW just noticed I got my second star today!!!

Yes I do. In fact I have an Animal's junk yard of old models that I have been stripping parts off to use on new project. I also use a couple of them to experiment on (painting modifying etc).

Alan, Congrats on your promo, Sir.

Although I've only been building for about 18 months I have already gone back and rebuilt and/or repainted several kits (Panther, Tiger, King Tiger and ,of course, a Sherman M4A3

Haha I have some models which I handpainted....like this Tiger:

You can see why I don't like the results...I've decided not to apply weathering until I'd bought my airbrush, what I did a few weeks ago. So, now I'll remove paint, give the kit new tracks, replace the sideskirts and repaint the whole thing, after which I'll apply final weathering.

It would be a shame to throw it away....as I can still make something nice out of it! Also because I think the interior looks great (only needs weathering)

I want to do this with more kits....e.g my Cromwell and Puma.

All the time, as models get downgraded from the display shelves to storage they become open to being robbed for parts.

BTW- congrats on the star. I noticed this morning that I made Brigadier so that's two promotions today!
