Heer7 -
A hearty welcome to Armorama. I know you'll be glad you "joined up" and will benefit from the experience no matter what "level" modeler you are. There just isn't a better, more friendly place to share modeling. This fantastic "family" of fellow modelers is the bset source for help, advice, information, and inputs. I'm a "returning" modeler and like primarily German WW II armor also, as well as dioramas. There are a couple great "Campaigns" going on now (just go to "Campaigns" from topic list to find details) that would suit you, I'm sure. The 2nd SS Panzer was in Battle of Bulge and there is a Campaign going on called "Ardennes" that would be perfect. Glad to have you here,

Willkommen! Armorama is a great place to expand you hobby. German armor is a great subject and you can jump right on the bandwagon here. Das Reich is a subject I am currently working on myself- a SdKfz 251/1 halftrack for the Ardennes campaign. Perhaps we can help each other out on this one.

Hey there welcome to the Big A! I am to a german fan, they have some of the best camo, and the waffen-SS tactics are used by the US Army today! Heres some info on the 2nd SS...
Originally formed on October 19, 1939 as the "Verfugungs" Division, this unit was redesignated as the 2nd SS Panzer Division ("Das Reich") in late 1943.
In January of 1944 the division was sent to southern France in order to reform after its actions in Russia. Following the June 6th invasions at Normandy, the division was dispatched from Toulouse the following day and began moving to the north.
The 2nd SS Panzer Division surrendered to U.S. troops on May 8, 1945 near Linz.
