Hi, Just finished up a book that I picked up I think around a year or two ago called Hell's Gate: The Battle of the Cherkassy Pocket-Jan.-Feb. 1944, by Douglas E. Nash. Put out by RZM Imports.

Super book. Have to say that this is one of the best books I've ever read about combat action on the Eastern Front in World War II, esp. in dealing with the later time period after Kursk.

Lots of detailed first-hand accounts from the survivors of this battle, esp. where it concerns the weather and combat in general in the cold winter months in Russia and what they went through on a day-to-day basis. Picture-wise it's kind of skimmpy, but the reading is excellent.

At $65 it isn't a cheap book, but good books aren't a cheap item anymore anyway. Well worth the money for anywbody interested in this time period.

Take care, Sgirty

Speaking of great WWII books, Osprey has come out with some really good books. They're not novels, but they are very informative.
