Hi all, first off awesome site, I have only just signed in but have been a visitor for a while and have picked up lots of good information about modeling and all sorts of things, anyway I am currently starting off in the modeling hobby as I am a big WWII fan and think the models are great, I have just bought a 1/35 Tamiya King Tiger Production Turrent model and all the gears even an air compressor 2.0HP with tank (hope thats alright)
and all I need now is an airbrush, I have read all the specs for different Airbrushes so in saying that I have got down to 2 choices
1. Badger 155-7 Athem
2. Aztec A4709
Airbrushes are hard to come by here so I have to concider replacement parts etc.
You cant get Aztecs here in NZ, but Badgers you can
so if I get a Aztec I will have to get part from ebay etc any help would be great...Thanks

Hi Jason,

Welcome to Armorama

Rather go for something you can get spares for...

It's pointless getting an airbrush where you have to wait anything from two weeks to two month just to get a replacement part!

Jason:
I bought my last AB off of eBay (came from Hong Kong), I bought a couple of spare needles and other extras. It can be a tough decision , even tougher if you limit yourself to local suppliers.
Here's a link that helped me make a decision:
AB choice

hope this helps

Go for the Badger.

I've got a 150 that I've had for about 15 years. You can get spare parts here easily. I recently got a new medium head and needle to replace the original ones, and was able to order the fine head and needle that didn't come with the air brush originally. It is a great air brush and easy to use. If you read the Hyperscale site, no one seems very impressed with the aztec, but I've never used one so can't comment.

I just bought a brand new Badger Anthem 155/7 from ebay $69US and $25US shipping about $130 NZ so I hope this is a good deal and a good brush never bought out of New Zealand before but I think they go for about $200NZ here anyway now I just cant wait.

go for the badger...

since i'm fairly new at airbrushing..i've only been doing it for 3 years now... I often wish I had started out with the badger.. rather than the slew of aztek's i worked with the first year....

I have the 175.. great all around airbrush but I also have the 360 universal.. almost the same as the 155 but can convert to gravity feed.. i use it mostly as a siphon feed as the 155 is and my airbrushing improved a lot just by upgradeing to this airbrush......

end of my 2 cents worth........ or a plug nickle....
