I heard about this, taking apart a Bic lighter. There are many parts to be used for modeling eg: gears and springs and more.

Try old analog watches too, you know the el cheapos you can get at yard sale, flea markets and have laying around in drawers. Those type have lots of gears in them.

That's a great tip Joe. Actually I have been taking those babies apart for years now, watches also.
I'm almost obsessed with collecting things I can take apart and store for future builds. I used about a half dozen parts from an old watch for the 4.2" mortar in my gallery in fact. The cross leveling adjustment knob, the defection knob on the sight are just two examples.
Guitar strings have several uses as well. My oldest son keeps me well stocked with those since he plays guitar and bass.

Nice stuff there Mother. Also u can use mechanical pencils and BIC pens to cut them off pieces and use as IAN SADLER does and makes nice lamps. A modeller has to keep eyes open on the cheappies and mother does it well !!!!!
