I would have to say that my vote, for me anyway, for kit of the year would have to be my RG 1/72 VIIc U-boat. Can't wait to start it for the campaign!
My dog kit of the year would have to be the Heller 1/50 Stampe SV4 Biplane. The fit of the parts are terrible and it wasn't cheap either!

Having only been modelling for 4 years now, I have not bought a lot of new kits when they came out. Over the years Ive been inspired more by older models much more, so have been buying the "classic" kits to have in my display.
The only newer kits I have bought over the last few years are Trumpeter Leopold, Italeri DUKW, Academy M18 and Dragon "3´n´1" 251.
The only kit that I can think of from last year that will bought soon is one of the trumpeter 1/16 T34s.

HI, Have to say the 1/16 Trumpeter T-34s first, then Trumpeter's Morser Karl R.R. gun kit as well. After that we'll go to Dragon's new German armor releases.

Take care, Sgirty

For my two clams worth my choices are:

Warships- RG 1/72 VIIC U-boat

Armor- Academy's 1/35 M36 Jackson TD

I dont have any idea of the other catagories, and I have not bought any woofers this year!

Cheers mates,

For sheer inovation and showing tamiya that a huge armour model really doesnt have to be £300.00
my kit of the year would also be trumpeters T-34 series in 1/16 and revells U-boat 1/72 .just for getting some of us stubborn Armour guys to try something new.
not forgetting trumpeters flanker in 1/32 scale
and thier upcomming avenger in 1/32 and .... Well i could prattle on for ever! i guess i just love models! the bigger and the more unusual the better :-)
my dog kits ...hmmm ?
well its hard but i guess my newest buy that dissapointed me most was Revells 1/32 He-163
its very sparse and details are very flat
but even at that you cant really argue for £14.00 ..
BORED ANYONE ? :-) :-) :-)

I don't think I built a new release kit this year. I mostly enjoy scrounging deals at hobby stores and eBay without having to pay top price. Plus since the overwhelming number of kits I build are 1/35 Shermans I build the ever lasting Italeri M4A1(76), Dragon Firefly Vc and Ic, Dragon M4A1(75), Tamiya M4, M4A3 (75) both old and newer release, M4A3(105). None of these kits would qualify as Kit of the Year.

Fun thread here!

Armour (see - correctly spelled ) - Tamiya's revamped HMMWV kits. Great production, and if you'll notice all the aftermarket sets that come out for it aren't to correct basic kit flaws - they're to convert the HMMWV into different variants A well done effort to create a base kit for modelers to go nuts with.

Aircraft - Academy 1:72 scale F-8E Crusader. If you have passed this one by on the shelf - don't! It's dang nicely detailed and fitting.

Ships - Revell's 1:72 scale U-Boat VII C. I'm building mine too - awesome!

Figures - Alpine Miniatures - everything. They actually got me interesting in working on 1:35th scale figures.

Sci-Fi - Fine Molds 1:72 scale Slave I. Simply wonderful kit from a wonderful small-manufacturer.

Dog - This is a tough one. My Dog Kit of the year was the one that disappointed me the most - Trumpeter's 1:72 scale Chinese Spaceship. For such a historic vehicle, you'd think that a domestically produced kit would be nice - home pride and all that stuff. But this one just skimped on the details. Not even painting instructions other than the CGI image on the box top.

i have to go for trumpeter's 1/35 sa2 missile with GAZ trailer... excellent kit, very good value for money that puts DML & tamiya to shame...

for the crap kit of 2004, i dont' know as havent bought many kits this year... but from past years, it have to be airfix & re-boxed revell kits
